hey guys, i had a thread started a while back asking how to buff my clear coat after wetsanding, unfortunatly it was lost in the crash. so i gotta start this again.

im just about to buff...i bought 3m perfect it 2 compound that was suggested and a foam buffing pad, along with a 7" buffer. the car is ready to be buffed now, but ive never done it before. so im looking for any suggestions that you guys can give me. thanks

Take a trip to web site http://www.autobody101.com If it has to do with bodywork, painting, polishing, buffing, colorsanding, this site will have the answer. Some of the guys on the site own shops that do custom car paint and they will have a answer for you. Your specific question has been discussed and you will find the answer you need. Using this site several guys have completed painting there own cars and polished them out to a show room finish with very good results on their first try.

Perfect it 2 compound is great to start with ! After you have done your water sanding with 1000-1500 grit sandpaper, use the compound above with a buffing pad. I just use a gentle out and back motion and be careful of corners and edges. After you have finished with the compound, I use 3M's final glaze and swirl mark remover with a foam pad and do the process again. This gives you a super shiny finish, and eliminates those small "swirl marks" left by the buffing pad and compound. Try to do this in a shady area for best results. Hope this helps a little !
