Build an 8.8 axle or swap in a 9 inch

I am having some issues on this topic and was wondering what everyone thought. I have a stock 8.8 axle under my car. With the current setup I have I have already snapped a stock axle shaft off. I just put another stock one in the rearend for now because i already had one. I was just wondering what you guys thought would be the best route to go. Should I build up my 8.8 with tube braces, axles, and spool or should I just switch to a 9 inch and build one of those.

9" is stout for sure

Then again ... it weighs more than the 8.8

Nice thing about the 9" is you can quickly swap out the punkin
and you got a different ratio

Another thing about going 9" is you will have to deal with
modifying it or buying one already setup to fit your Stang

I gotta tell ya ..... Them 9 inchers are tough :Word:

I used to do full on launches at strips all stuck up with VHT
at 5 to 6K with wrinkle wall slicks and never broke nuthin

You can run an 8 second quarter mile on a properly setup 8.8. The 9" has a lot more parasitic drag, and is going to slow you down. Definately go with an 8.8.

I second that, Just build the 8.8. Weld the tubes get a good diff with some axles and your good.

And an axle girdle is a good investment too. They aren't that expensive.

in the end i think the 8.8 would be cheaper too
