I'm in the process of getting my mustang back together and better than ever. I am going to be running the normal trick flow top end street kit keeping all smog stuff on. My question:

I'll be running a 70mm tb, 80mm mas air, 255lph fuel pump and a 30lb injectors. Should I spend money on a fuel pressure regulator or get a new harmonic balancer instead?

Which do you guys feel is more important? Or are both an absolute must? Could money be spent else where for better results?

Thx in advance

Backfocus, the car ran flawlessly before began to take it apart. I had it dyno'ed and the air fuel curve was right where it was suppose to be. The car has about 107k.

My understanding so far is that the stock fuel pressure provides sufficient pressure to run the trick flow package without any tuning problems. Right?

I'm thinking on replacing the balancer to be safe. Any recommendations, I see on summit that the price range is ridiculous. Would a stock replacement for $70 be alright? Or is there a major benefit to upgrade to a huge aftermarket unit? Thanks again.

You might be alright with the stock regulator, but since you are going with 30s, I would want to be able to adjust it better.

As for the balancer I have heard good things about the Pioneer units and the Professional Products units, but I would go with a SFI approved unit no matter what, just for the assurance, if any thing.

I'm continuing to research further into this subject. Today I ran into a thread that a member stated that an adjustable fuel pressure regulator is a worthless mod. Supposedly the computer will eventually learn the new fuel pressure setting and change the air fuel ratio accordingly to what it deems as correct. The only true way to change the air fuel ratio permanently is with a custom chip.

Now how true is this statement?

And if I do plan on having my car dyno tuned and chipped will the tuner need to adjust fuel pressure?

thank again :SNSign:

Fuzion, I know that this has been debated on here several times and I do agree with your findings, about the computer adjusting the fuel, but I don't think it does upon start up. I figured you were getting a tune or at least I would strongly suggest it with using the bigger 30lb injectors.

My old setup was with 24lbers and the trickflow High ports and it always ran a little rich, that was with the stock regulator. I don't have my new setup running yet, but I did go with an adjustable, but I will also have a turbo and a tuner.

I think Jlinker as a writeup about the computer fuel adjustment somewhere. If not try fordfuelinjection.com

thanks for your help. I'm going to hold of from buying either and see how the car runs. Once im in the market for tuning and all i'll see what the tuner suggests.

I can't wait to start breaking into this thing. just received my 3g alternator and im starting to clean up the engine bay this weekend.

Im going to have to start my own progress thread stangnet style soon.
thanks again
