Building 5.0 for low end speed?

I used to drive an 00 dakota 4.7L auto with 3.55s it had some nice low end torque..ya know tap the peddle it jumped and was torquey etc...

well i got a 94 gt auto..door panel says i have 3.27's but rpm calculators say i may acctually have 3.73's...
thing is i feel like i have no torque below 3 to 3.5k rpm

i want low end power/torque, are these 5.0 able to be built as such? what do you recommend?

i do need a tuneup i think, i have no idea when it was last tuned up (odo broken) how hard are o2 sensors to check?

thanks

so do the tuneup:

clean the mass air sensor
new air filter
oil change
new rotor and distrib cap
new spark plugs and wires
replace the fuel filter
some fuel injector cleaner in the gas

that should help a good bit

i've cleaned the mass air
i have a k&n but will clean that in a few days
done oil change, done tranny oil change.

my dad looked at dist and wires and said they are fine but we havent looked at plugs yet, nor filter yet either

we did use fuel injector cleaner but just the 2$ crap, you think putting seafoam would be better?

i've never done the seafoam thing, so i can't comment on it.

i've heard the autos are "slushboxes"; i'm not sure what can done to firm them up.

a kenne bell will give you the best low end torque around if you have an extra 3 grand to drop.

the problem is that if you build your 5.0 to run like your dakota you will notice that like your dakota there is not much top end. I know I own one of each right now and both have the 5-speeds.

Now I have the 4.7 and auto in my jeep and yeah your right that thing screams off the line... To me you need to do a tourque convertor and tranny cooler then see if you like it.. that will get you into your powerband in the car sooner so it will feel more like the truck without killing that little bit of top end our cars have stock.
