Building a 4.6

I'm currently a V6 owner. I have a 2003 5-Speed and was thinking about different performance options for my car. I've basically decided (through help with a local performance shop) that a V8 swap would be the best bang for your buck over supercharging, turboing, etc the V6. So if you could build a new 4.6 to drop in what would you do for the best performance for the dollar? I want this to be an affordable idea not a dream so nothing too over the top on expense.

My idea so far is to pick up a high mile mod 4.6 assembly, rebuilding it with nicer internals, porting the heads, and finishing it off either with a roots superchager or a port Bullitt intake.

Depending on how fast you want to go, i would suggest selling your V6 and buy a used low mileage GT and go from there...

I could afford the car payment, but once you factor in insurance it would cut my budget much too tight. I figured I wanted to do an 8.8" swap with gears and suspension on the V6 anyways and I can build an engine over the coarse of time depending on my cash flow.

trust me, the insurance difference won't be as much as the parts you will need to do the complete swap.

ya its not worth it. your speed shop thinks its a great idea cause they get to sell you a bunch of parts and bend you over on the labour. just sell your v6 and sell the motor and buy a GT, hell even do what i did and buy a 96-98 GT and do the PI headswap.
