I have a faily standard 289 in a 67 Coupe 3 speed auto. I have run her down the 1/4 mile a couple of times now and really enjoyed it.
Next week I am planning to go to a RWYB and thought I would practice my lauch on a quiet bit of road which has tarmac.
Two things happened ???
# I struggled to build the revs up to 2000 rpm. but it ran freely when driving on kick down etc.
# Rear paaenger side wheel spun and created a lot of smoke ( I was impressed) the other wheel held on the foot brake.
I am sure I have launched at 2000 rpm before.
Any suggestions or advice would be great.

PS the car has a Barry Grant 625 carb performance manifold and a better cam.
ignition is standard apart from petronix and 8mm spark plug wires.
