Im waiting to buy a mustang until the winter ( here in NYC they sell dirt cheap )

Here are my plans so far.

Body :

Saleen bodykit
Saleen Wheels Hypercoated.
Black Headlights

Engine :
347 Forged Stroker
All the supporting Mods

Wheel/Suspension :

Saleen Wheels Hypercoated.
MM Sport Box.
Big brake kit ( dont know brand yet )

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I need help choosing a color for the car. It must go well with the Hypercoated Saleen Wheels.

Maybe DSG with the Hypercoated Saleen's? But I was thinking a brighter color.. Dont like dark colors 2 much..

Also I need help with the exhaust setup.

I have about $15k to spend.(The car will be 4k MAX)
So around 11k for mods. ( I will be buying most parts ahead of time )

Any other suggestions?

Only thing Im looking for when I get the car is black interior and manual transmission.

I guess around 8k for everything listed above including custom paint.

That leaves around 3k for the engine.

What are some options.

Im mostly right now looking for color combinations to match the hypercoated saleens

3k isnt much for the engine. You would be able to get a Full H/C/I and supporting mods for that.

As far as color. Id get Deep Forrest Green, but Im sort of biased.

But white would be sweet too.

i was goin to go show then go.......

but then i found a good deal on a 351w and i just found myself sheeling out 550 for a tweecer(to practice on a stock motor) looking for a good wideband and saving for my stroker kit and the rest of the 408w. man you goals change fast when you get bit by the bug.

i would focus on getting the car and if the body was in worthy condition i would focus the rest of that pocket full of cash on the motor.

but if you are dead set on goin show first(and theres nothing wrong with that)i think opal frost always looks good, even more so with a saleen body kit

o and on top of everything have fun, be safe, and build the car the way YOU want it not the way others says it needs to be.

But then I tell myself "But it wouldnt look nearly as good going slow."

yeah man i driving the dreaded tri colored mustang (black cobra bumper, white cervinis cobra r hood, and opal frost everything else)but i cant really help but feed the urge to get that motor off the stand.

knowing wat is slowing coming together in my workshop really makes driving a tri colored car easier.

i cant wait to go fast

o and the way i see it the three colors will make a neat blur at the track

I would do this if I had $15k to build my car:

-331 stroker (AFR 185's, Holley Systemax intake, custom cam)
-exhaust (longtubes, choice midpipe and catback)
-TKO 600 or G-Force gearset in my T-5 (simply so i wouldn't need a different clutch and bellhousing)
-built rear (3.73 gears, 03 Cobra 31 spline diff, Superior 31 spline axles)
-suspension (lowering springs, adjustable shocks and struts, CC plates, U/L control arms, subframes)
-brakes (13" Cobra / Mach 1 / Bullitt kit in front and maybe upgraded rotors and pads out back - stock size)
-twEECer and wideband
-appearance (cobra front bumper cover, cobra r or cowl hood, saleen s-281 spoiler)
-chrome saleen wheels (18x9 and 18x10) w/ 265 fronts and 315 bfg dr's out back
-paint (burnt orange, redfire metallic, sonic blue, dfg, or opal frost)

All of this would probably be over $15k depending if you buy used parts, if you do the labor yourself, cost of the bodywork and paintjob, etc. It would be a pretty stout combo that would make around 350 rwhp / 375ish rwtq depending on compression, cam specs, etc and with a good driver could crack 11's at the track. Good luck on your build, don't let anyone tell you what to build cause its your car. What i wrote above was just how i would build my car if i had a buttload of money

BTW heres a pic of my car with Redfire Metallic paint...its not a 94-98 color so i figured id show you since you were considering dark red.

DSG is a great color i love it!

But 11k for all that listed up there Good luck!

$3,500 for just 347 shortblock
$2,500 for the TFS set up
$1,000 full exhaust
$500 tune and engine management set up(twEECer, Chip)
$2,500 Tremec TKO to handle new engine
$5,000 Good paint full color change
$1,000 Saleen Kit

$16,000 right there. YOu are way over year head with that list bro.

Edit: oh wait i forgot to add the grip box, lol.

Good luck... my car still looks like a POS and I haven't really touched the engine / trans yet..

but the rear gears, brakes, chassis stuff, tires/wheels, etc... and I am in $11k with a barely bolt-on motor... But it handles and stops pretty good...

So I would personally (as you can tell by how bad my car looks) spend the extra $4 for acar that looks good so you could put some $$ where it matters first (chassis, brakes) then work on gears, engine, trans, etc...
