Wow, history in the making, great numbers.

I remember when people said NPI GTs couldn't get out of the low 15s stock (even when they were.) Then they'd never run bolt-on 13's. Then they said they'd never make 300rwhp N/A.

Thanks for proving them all wrong. Now go out and get us a solid E/T!!

Well not to be mean but 300 RWHP N/A with NPI heads was done a long time ago. Johnny Langton made over 300 RWHP N/A with NPI heads about 5 - 6 years ago and he did it with an auto to boot. Last time I talked to him, his best was 12.16 @ 111 MPH with a 3700 pound TBird.

Doesn't "built" engine usually denote forged?

Oh, i was under the impression he used a Mark engine's internals to bump compression and that they were stock.

I dunno...I'm just going by what's in his sig? Besides, I didn't think you could use 2V heads with 4V pistons? I thought there were piston to valve clearance issues....although I could be wrong?

I just went back to his old thread:
stock cast crank, canton windage tray, ace forged i beam rods, mark 8 piston, clevlite main & rod bearings

Those Mark pistons are what gave him the compression. The rods are rated to 600hp.

yeah, it has '98 4v pistons in it, (2.6cc dish), and the rods, there forged i beams, sort of overkill, but i pretty much stole them.........

I'm not saying that this was the first time it's been done, I'm simply stoked that "normal" people are realizing these gains and doing so with "normal people" budgets.

People were running 14's with stock Non-PI GTs for years, but they were so few and far between that the general concensus, even in the supposed tuner mags, was that they were 15 second dogs. I think its safe to say that the same concensus was reached with NPI 4.6s. They were simply too expensive to build too 300rwhp and beyond.

Just one more notch on the belt for the NPI castings.

Those are some awesome numbers you posted! Let us know when you get the final tune. You've definetely convinced me about the npi heads because I was going to go with the pi heads. It's safe to say I won't now. Awesome job man!
