was playing with a prelude tonight and i hit the redline in 3rd and hit 4th. the moment i got to 5000rpms, the car started to buck like it was starving yet trying to keep going.

i tried it again and again on an open stretch of road and it kept doing it past 5000 in 4th, then did it once past 4000 in 3rd. what's going on? never had this happen before.

I should say, im right at the "low fuel" mark. does that make a difference?

Help, dealer's closed til after christmas.

Well, the first thing popping in to my head is fill your gas tank, then try it again and see. I guess it's possible that you're starving for fuel.

If you do that and it still bucks, depending on the mileage of the vehicle, it may be time to replace spark plugs, clean your COP's, clean MAF, etc. There's a ton of things it could be. Just fill up the tank for now and let us know if it fixes it.

Probably a dirty fuel filter...combined with low fuel, its probably starving durring the high loads of 3-4th. Thats VERY dangerous...you could freegin melt the pistions to the cylinder walls if your runnning like that @ 5K and runn LEAN. =s ALOT of heat. Its not probable, but I wouldnt risk it.
Like said above, fill the tank first. If it goes away, run some injector cleaner through the gas tank and change that filter :nice:

thanks guys, but it WAS the lack of fuel. Ive never run hard before with that little gas. I filled up with my usual and ran her up to redline in 3rd and 4th and she's smooth again.

Thanks again.
