HAMPTON ROADS
i want to take my car to the track in the near future and i know you need to do a burnout to warm up your tires. what would be the right way for me to do it w/o hurting anything? would power braking be ok? i don't wanna ruin anything on the car. i know it sounds crazy but i've never been and want to do it right.

Mash brakes, mash throttle...smoke tires.

It puts a strain on the driveline and rear brakes. If you got a line-lock it would be better but either way you are stressing your trans so do it at your own risk

you can always loosen you l337 rear drums when you get to the track to lessen the stress. Just dont forget to tighten them back up defore you leave! Wouldnt want to drive a car with crappy brakes:rolleyes:

If you have street tires they dont need heating up, set tire pressure to about 25psi, and just hold the brake and do alittle few second burnout to get any rocks or water, etc. off the tires, DO NOT drive in the waterbox, go around.

If you have drag radials or slicks, go around the water box, reverse into the water box, drive out dont go too far or the water will come off and wont spin as much, hold the brake and floor it and do a good 10 second burnout, or untill they get traction. Then line up and let them rip. I would recomend reversing into the water box, if you drive through it, you have a chance of your front tires picking up water and when you leave the line it could leave some behind for the back tires too pick up, thats what I was always told.

YOU have all that done to your car and you dont know how to do a brake torque? Man that is just insane, yah it puts a strain on the car but i've had my stang for over 8 years and i have never had anything wrong when doing a brake torque and i've done some HUGE ones lol. ONe foot pressed moderatly hard on the brake and start giving it gas with the other , the tires will break loose and start to spin, keep it spinning at around 4 grand, slowly let off the brake and ride it out till it hooks, stage and GO when you see green! BUT if you start moving and spinning at the same time just give the brake a little more pressure till you stand still and spin them. Good luck

thanks for all your help guys. i only had one stang before this that was heavily modded and it was a stick. i knew i could do this power braking or whatever just didn't want to break something. i think 'mob" has the best idea but i appreciate all the help. anyone going to fun ford weekend in petersburg?
