I want to get a Diablo Chip for my 1998 GT (4.10's, Mac H-pipe, and to fix my speedo for the gears).

I've seen a few Diablo Chips for sale NEW online, and used on stangnet. How do you burn these, if i bought one used?? Who can do this? Or what would *I* need to do this (keep in mind i have no clue what im doing )

Thanks for any advice guys.

You would need to get your computer code and either mail it in to a dealer, like motorhaven.com, rpmoutlet.com, etc. or find someone who can burn Diablo chips locally. You can't do it yourself, but it shouldn't be too expensive to have it re-burned.

Don't expect any amazing gains from it - it will recalibrate your speedo, advance your timing, etc. but that's about it.

I thought the Predator was a flasher, rather than chip based. There are two or three units I know of that will allow you to flash your EEC and/or burn a chip.

The SCT Racer Package - flash or burn
The PMS from EFISystems - flash
TwEECer - flash

All three of these require some homework and a general understanding of the PCM. The predator might be a bit safer, but may or may not give you the control the others do. Not sure on that.

edit: "Allows fine tuning adjustments to timing and fuel curves of DiabloSport tune" is this by the chip or what?

I dont think there is a Predator out for his year GT is there? I thought they just had ones for the Cobra's out. I could be wrong though, its happened before lol. As for reburning your chip, its no problem. Just find a speed shop around you that is a Diablo dealer and can tune, and have them reburn your chip. I wouldnt trust all that mail order stuff. I know a lot of people do it, but its not for me.

The Cobra and Lightning predator's are out, but I also don't think the GT version has been released.

As far as mail order burn v. speed shop burn on a Diablo Chip it probably doesn't matter since the Diablo dealers don't create or write any files for the chips. They simply access the website and look for your computer code/year and check out the files that have already been created - when they find a match for your computer code and mods they download the file to the chip.

There's no magic about a Diablo "tune". It's the guys at Diablo that actually create the files and put them on the site.

Just an FYI from what I've picked up talking with several people about tuning, including Diablo dealers.

i agree with GT2000JAY, diablo doesnt 'tune' they just rehash what someone wrote awhile ago for someone else's car. If i was in the market for a chip, www.superchipscustom.com would be my choice but thats just me. ive seen the proof that they are better they get more RWHP and they are tuners not tooners like most of the companies out there.

just for the heck of it here is what they were working on this past week...

note: only mods done to the vehicle was tuning.
