Buy a MAC Straight Shot Plenum?

Bought a MAC Straight Shot CAI. It's a pretty mod, but I seriously doubt the published hp improvements. :bs: My buddy suggested I should also change out my stock throttle body and plenum to get the performance increase. Comments? Is it worth the money to swap these pieces out? (Plus I'll loose my mustang logo under the hood!) If it is worth it, what brand?

gears are a better mod. so is a shifter. or a set of cams, or long tube headers or an x pipe. save the plenum/tb combo for later.

Gears are on my list... 3.73 or 4.10? I've heard that 3.73s are better for manuals but after watching that 4.10 sticky I'm thinking that might be the better way...... After all, we're just talking ~3 highway mpg right?

its all up to you. i run 3.73's in my cobra and love it BUT i am on the freeway for probably 90% of my driving...and i don't like the feeling of having to shift gears when i am already in 5th, and having nowhere to go. however for your GT, i think you'd absolutely love 4.10's, maybe even 4.30's.

OK, what ya need is 4.56's and a six-speed...but, til then...
Go with 4.10s-believe me, you'll learn the curve they throw at your right foot and you'll learn to love it. We have both, see sig, and I wish I'd gone with 4.10s on mine (the 02).
Don't listen to those crying about lack of traction with 4.10s+...if you can drive, if you can launch, if you can find the edge of traction with your current gears, you'll figure out how the lower gears work and you'll adjust. I can launch either of our cars with minimal spin, and basically soft-shift (especially the 01) into 2nd gear to keep the rear end pointed straight. (I can kick it out easily, and that's fun, but it ain't fast!)
Be safe and enjoy!

4.30s? Now that's somthing I haven even been considering... Anyone here have expereince with 'em on a manual? I'm also guessing that this kinda mod is not a do-it-yourselfer......

It depends what your goals are. If you want the quickest route to better ETs, I'd get some 4.10s, a speedcal to correct the speedo and odometer, and a good set of drag radials (I like my Nittos.) A good set of subframe connectors might also help you hook a little better and be more consistent.

I have the plenum/tb from Accufab and based on my ETs & mph, I really can't imagine they were worth the money I spent. Sure looks pretty though! Best money I've spent to make my car quicker at the track were 4.10s and drag radials. With that nitrous set-up you have, if you could hook-up better than you already do, well, you'd be in for some seriously good ETs. :nice: Good luck!
