Buy this 07 GT or wait?

Checking out this 07 GT this weekend, fantastic shape only 35k on it and for 16,000. I'm just wondering if I'm going to be kicking myself in a few years when I'm getting my ass handed to me by moms driving v6 mustangs. What do you guys think?
 
Well, I got my 06 GT deluxe model( ie boring interior) with 16k miles for $15,600. So that price is prolly a good one. But if its at a dealer, get a carfax on it and see how long its been sitting on their lot. If its been over 60 or 90 days then they really want to get rid of it. Mine was sitting on the lot since June. I bought it in Oct. They were asking $23k! Freaking dealers!!!!!!

Also, you cant worry about the next generation of stang. Yeah its got 400 HP but its gonna cost ya double of a nice used one. And for me personally, I really like the body style of this one over the 2010/2011 models.

I'll give you the pros and cons. I'm in a little dilimman myself right now. I bought an '07 GT a couple of months ago with 25K miles. In this area, that is low mileage and, according to the CarFax report, it has been in this area its whole life. I thought it would be close to good as new with that mileage. WRONG! It has been in the shop for a week now with multiple problems that should have been noticed on the dealer's multi-point check they brag about on used cars.

Pros=the price is much less than new and I'm still trying to get used to the new look. Cons=you typically get what you pay for and you don't know how it was driven and maintained for those 35K miles.

I think I will likely bite the bullet and get a new one.
 
buy what you want, that's what it boils down to...as far as racing, who cares? you getting paid to race or serious about going to the track all the time? If not just enjoy your ride and don't get sucked into the "mine can beat yours to the next stoplight or in a highway roll-on" routine. :rlaugh:

Agreed on the savings from an 2011. I'm going to go with the 2010 and start over from scratch. I should still save in the neighborhood of $10K over a 2011 (until the demand dies down).
 
I was thinking the same thing - was trying to get an outrageous deal on a 2010 GT but couldn't get the #s I wanted. While shopping a dealer for a 2010 I spotted on 2007 GT fully loaded on their used lot with 7K miles. They wanted $25K for it (yeah, right). Really considered biting the bullet and blowing my budget to hell for the 5.0 but ended up getting the 07 for $19.5K.............and I love it!!! This car is fast as hell, and as another poster mentioned, if I really get the need for more speed, I've got aftermarket options galore that will still bring me in way under the price of the 2011. I had to take it back for a TSB (that the dealer really should have caught), but other than that, this thing is really sweet and to be honest, with 300HP my license is already in enough danger.....with 412 (438) HP, my license would probably be suspended inside of a month...

BTW, with 35K, be very careful checking out that 07 - I think that might be a little too much mileage for me even if the price is right....
 
Yes, be very careful checking out that '07 with 35k. Mine only had 25K and already had issues. I think the previous owner drag raced it and put it back to somewhat stock. It still had the PYPES exhaust and a tuner. But there were way too many issues for a car with that low mileage. I ended up getting a 2010. Now I can start from scratch and I saved $8-10k over what the 2011s will be going for with the same equipment (aside from engine of course).
 
Buying a used mustang gt can be a little tricky - one can still buy the best 'used' car off of a new car dealer lot (typically ford dealers ) - they tend to keep the 'best' for themselves - if it's junk - they ship it off to the auctions - and it goes through the chutes to second tier dealers....persistence, persistence .....keep looking - don't buy a 2010/11 - as soon as you drive it off the lot it drops $10K in value ....you need to find one that has low miles - mileage is everything - now that most 07's /06's/and 05's are off warranty - you need to find one that was cared for - no modifcations - or at least minor ones ....when your looking - throw it up on the dealer rack / have a mechanic go through it / if u look long enough - you'll see how dealers cover up or just plain try and ***** u w/explanations - even when u have a car-fax - that doesn't tell the whole truth....you may have to vary on color - but if you find one on a reputable dealer's lot - get a 30 day warranty / ask them to 'run' the VIN through there service department - bring it to a body shop to make sure that it hasn't been 'racked' or had major surgery done - it's always a 'risk' buying a used car - miniize yours. You want the car - bring someone w/you when negoiating the price - have them 'throw' monkey wrenches at the sales manager (your friend will have a 'clean' perspective) - watch out when they get you into the finance dept - that's when they say they forgot to add this or that - always be willing to walk away - some fool will want a 2010/2011 w/that goof ball rear end - you'll be seasoned enough to ****** a 'no=problem' / no-story car for a great price.
