im going to be buying a set of bbk shorties, a custom grounded lunati cam, and a set of worked e7s off my buddy on friday for 240 bucks. the heads were redone about 3000 miles ago. they have .550 springs, 1.9 and 1.6 valves and he says the inside of the heads were worked but not the outside. he says they our better then gt40s. what do u guys think. i know i dont have the specs on the cam or anything but what type of roller rockers should i buy, and what about a typhoon intake on top off all that? sorry this is so long im just tryin to figure things out. btw the car was a notch and ran a 13.4 carbed with a 2.3 60

Sounds like a good deal... I don't know about them being better than GT-40's though, that seems like a bit of a stretch to me. The typhoon intake is a great deal also. Why don't you just go with the same rockers your friend had?

Sure E7TE's can be ported to outflow a set of GT-40's. Are these ones??? Can't be sure unless you have them flowed. By having "the inside of the heads were worked but not the outside", I assume he means that they've had some bowl work, but nothing more. If that's the case, you'll want to at the very least make sure the thermalatric bumps are ground off before inatalling them. But they're woth the price either way. Just the valves and springs would normally cost you nearly that much.

ill have to ask him what rockers he had i think hes using them on his gt40x heads he just bought what about having the heads ported? would it be worth it? my friend works at jesel and theres a guy there that works on engines as a side job. any price range on how much a a basic port and polish would run thanks guys

I always thought "bowl work" was to the compression chambers. Since they look kinda like bowls.
Nope, that would be chamber work....combustion chamber to be exact. Most people just polish those, but there are a few (like myself) who've done a little reshaping to them as well. I've got a few sets of junk heads lying around that I'm going to toy with to see how far I can actually modify them.

I spent some time porting my stockers (bowl work (reshaping, 5-angle valve job), intake/exhaust porting, chamber work, undercut valves, etc) and welded ported my stock lower along with a little smoothing out of the intake throat and matching of the upper along with a few other mods and dropped nearly 6/10ths with the rest of my bolt-ons. Yep, there’s power to be make with stock castings, just have to have the patience to find it :nice:

Im looking into porting my stock heads this summer with a new valve job and some new rockers. How much do u think this would all cost....or would it be cheaper just to pick up a set of assembled gt-40 heads or something comperable to that? thanx

I have a set of NMRA legal E7TEs going on in a week or two... These are unported. I wont go into all the details (some of my competition learks on here) but they have GT-40 Valve train, valve job and some other little work done. I have seen these heads run low 12s on drag radials with a stock cam, at the NMRA opener this year. The E7s are good heads with the right work...

ok i found out the specs ont he cam...523 intake 530 ex
224 228 i also foudn out the cam that he had in his old engine was a b cam so this one wasnt in there when it ran the low 13s woudl this cam bealright with the worked heads and say... a rpm II intake, and sooner or later 3.90 gears thanx again guys
