Hey guys. I'm converting! I've had an 87 GT for 4 years, but the body is finally giving up on me. I've decided it's time to upgrade, and hopefully in the next week or so I'll be driving home a beautiful stock 2004 40th GT in shadow grey. What I need to know is which parts from my 87 can I swap onto the 04. I know obviously that my motor parts are no good, and some I know for sure are ok like my springs and gauges, but there are other things that I'm not sure I can use. Here's a list, give me a yes or no to these if you know whether they're usable on the 04:

MSD 6AL Ignition box

KYB GR-2 Shocks and Struts, Gas-A-Just quadshocks

Walbro 255 LPH Fuel Pump (bought as listed for an 87)

Russell stainless steel brake lines (bought as listed for a 94 GT, used for my 5 lug swap on the 87, not sure if 94 and 04 lines are interchangeable).

Aluminum clutch cable quadrant ( Summit, bought as listed for an 87)

UPR extreme double lock firewall clutch cable adjuster (also bought as listed for the 87, but I think they're all the same)

Any info you guys can provide would be awesome.

First, welcome!

The MSD box, I doubt it could be used; but if it could, I really dont think you're going to need it. Our COP ignitions seem to hold up to just about anything. I've heard of some products out there, but usually most are running stock ignitions.

Shocks and struts I'm really not sure. The fuel pump I'm pretty positive is not compatible. Most likely due to the returnless style fuel system. The SS lines, possibly I'm not sure.

The clutch quadrant stuff I dont think is compatible. Most of my answers I'm pretty positive about, but not 100%...I'm not very familiar with the fox chassis. More people should chime in though.

Yeah. It seems the shock/strut package is different, but from what I'm reading the shocks and struts on these cars are pretty good as is. The MSD was a long shot, but I figured I'd ask. The brake lines also were something I was hoping I'd be able to use, but I know the brakes on the 94 and 04 are different. I'm thinking that the only thing on the list is the quadrant and adjuster, which is a good thing anyway.

What I'd love to know is if I could swap over my rear end from my 87. It's a stock 1987 8.8 rear end housing with 3.73s and 2002 V6 axles in it from when I did my brake conversion. It's all set up for rear disc calipers and everything. I think it's the same track width as my new car. If all the mount points are the same, I could have gears in the new car in a few hours time...

Im not sure bout the axles, but 99-04 8.8 rearends are an inch wider then previous models, so u will lose some track width if u use one from an 87. Plus the lower control arm bolt holes got bigger in 99 also.

So long as they are all 8.8s. I know when I ordered my new Mosers, the pre-99 8.8s were a different length axleshaft than what I needed.

I say toothpick axles, because the stockers that came out of mine were SOO small compared to the 31 spline Mosers I upgraded to. I've seen too many axle failures from stock GTs doing dead launches on slicks.

the fuel pump wont work, we have a returnless style fuel system.

the MSD is worthless, stock COP is probably better anyways.

i doubt the shocks/struts will changeover.

SS brake lines, might change over, that i have no idea, if anything it will be too short and not work, or be too long.

quadrant and adjuster might.
