buying an lx vert...help me choose between 2!

hey folks,

i used to post in the modular section when i had a bullitt (ala woody's bullitt). i gave up the bullitt to have a baby girl about two years ago. i've since scraped together the money together to get a decent 5.0.

i've been looking quite a while without much success until recently. now it seems i have to choose between two cars. i'd appreciate your help and insight choosing between the two.

car #1: '93 lx vert feature car - triple white (top, paint, wheels, leather, factory spoiler); all original; three owner; excellent shape; 109K; needs nothing presently. looks like modest carpet wear and the usual minor cracking on the white leather seats. seems like a real nice car and definitely unusual as a feature car. price $6500.

car #2: '91 lx vert - silver, black trim & top; black leather; all original; two owner (present owner a FEMALE since '92); excelllent shape 66K; new tires & clutch; complete service records; no visible wear and tear in digital pics. price $7000.

i really like both these cars and would probably be happy in either one. the feature car is appealing to me because it is such an oddity. definitely eye candy. but the silver one is also very, very sharp. i cannot seem to get the 66K, female owned thing out of my mind.

as to what i'm looking to do here, i want to keep one of these cars as a garaged weekend driver forever. the only mods i will do will be reversible: gears, louder catback, shifter, k&n, chassis stiffening. that's about it. i want to keep it nice.

i welcome your opinions. it's a tough call for me. i have gone back and forth several times. both cars are about an hour and a half away, so travel will be involved. appreciate the help....

I would personally get car #2.

Here's why:
-Black interior is the best interior to have. Any imperfections will stand out like a sore thumb on white seats.
-Silver is easier to keep up than white.
-Lower mileage and complete service records.
-The 91 will have slightly better HP in stock form.

Got any pics for us to see?

As the owner of a white 93 vert with white interior (though not a feature car) I would probably go for #2 as well. The white interior is a bear to keep looking nice, though, contrary to what Aaron thinks, the exterior is a breeze to keep clean and it doesn't show regular road dirt until it gets really dirty. I'm currently redoing my interior (in white. I'm a glutton for punishment.) using 2003 GT seats with the rear recovered to match. I love the look, but, if I had it to do over again, I would have chosen a different color combo from the get-go. I've had it for almost 10 years, so I'll stick with what I know.

Hmmm - from past experience (at least on daily drivers), I've noticed that white exteriors are a pain in the a$$.
Both my wife and I have owned a white DD in the past, and I have had the responsibility of keeping them up (who else?!?).
On the 2 white cars, I had to consistantly scrub extra hard to get that deep dirt off the car because off-color blotches really stood out where I didn't really scrub. It made a regular car wash very tiring. Granted, any car should be cleaned with the same care, but darker color cars are a little more forgiving.
I'm SURE your Stang is not a DD, so maybe that is the reason you can't relate. All I know is that owning 2 white cars in the past is enough to keep me away from them in the future...
Maybe weekend cars in white are easier to keep up

mine requires the same amount of care any care with any paint does. The white wheels require more cleaning for break dust, but even as my summer DD, it never builds more than the rest of the car gets dirty. Triple white is pretty!!! but the other car only has 66k, which is sweet.

My Stang was my DD until four years ago. This is my current DD:

I specifically got white for the ease of keeping it looking good. A medium Flint interior on this one.

OK - fine - maybe it's the Buffalo, NY snow, salt, rustbelt problem...
You're making me LOOK bad here :rlaugh:

Being the owner of a 92 special edition,I would get #2, just because it was probably less beat on and with only 66k miles. Also, I spent a lot time when I first got my car thinking about if I wanted to mod it, since it was a "tiny" bit of a collector's car, since it was low mileage and a special edition...

The white one you listed sounds like a special edition vert. Is the window and roof trim white too? Small cervinis wing?

If so, that's the one i would buy.

white is not hard to keep clean, and it's relatively maintaince free, other than the normal washing you would do to any vehicle. No fading is a plus too.
