i have just about had it with 4 cylinder-like low end of this motor.

i fully expected normal b head low end, but im getting tired of it. its all top end power and zero torque. im committed to keeping the motor in until i finish fabricating a N/A intake for it, so it will be a while. in the mean time im pulling the turbo out next spring and going all motor till i build the 5.4 turbo motor.

i still love the turbo. the 5.4 will give me the low end i need. just cant stand this lack. i am going to do something alittle different with the intake piping for the 5.4.

im going to install a 3" check valve and air filter in the intake piping just before the MAF. so it will have two air filters. one for airflow before the turbo spools. drawign through a 2.5" hole in the inducer of the turbo is killing low end. im not going to suffer that again. i might try that before i pull the turbo stuff. see if that helps any.

forged 5.4 3v, 9:1 compression, ported heads, SS racing valves, 76mm .60 trim turbo, modified (widened and rewelded)C&L 4.6 3v intake manifold, 12-15 psi boost. 6500 rpm rev limit. 700rwhp limit i set for it. stock cams timed for 6500 rpm peak power. (9 degrees retarded.)

im buying 96-96 4.6 2v forged pistons and flycutting the exhaust valve pockets myself.

simply cleaning up the intake ports and opening the intake valve shrouds yield most of the gains of very expensive cnc 3v heads and takes very littel time. the SS intake valves get the rest of the low lift flow.
