I went to the Ford dealer last week and bought a Mustang, but had to order one, as they didn't have the color and options I wanted. I put down $500 using a credit card, but didn't fill out any forms or papers. Is this normal? They ran a credit check, and it was really good, but I'm wondering if I shouldn't have more than just a credit card recpt. to show for ordering my car. Anybody have advice?

Thanks,
Art

It is getting very close to the time you can no longer order. If they were finding one for you from another dealer, they should have been able to do that while you waited. They use computers to check inventory and should be able to locate one in minutes. It may take some time for them to arrange a dealer trade but finding the car shouldn't take more than, as I said, a few minutes.
My dealer found a new Mustang for me in another state last year. He recently found a new Focus exactly the way my daughter wanted it from another dealer.
Unless you are wanting something kind of unusual, there should be no problem finding one at another dealer. But I agree that you should have more of a receipt than you do. Call your dealer and ask.
