Well, not really :( , but ya know. I love this car and it's so damn fun to drive. I get all kinds of complements and thumbs up, but with the new baby boy here, we need something with more room for long trips. And you all know these back seats are useless.

So, after three weeks and talking with about 10 dealers from Dallas to Kansas City, our local large volume Ford dealer gave us the deal we wanted. They're giving us what we own on the 07 GT (which is about 4K more then what "fair trade in" is) and letting us use X plan on a new Ford Fusion Hybrid. Yeah, I know. What a difference from a Mustang GT to a Fusion Hybrid... But ya know... Life is calling. I'll still be around the forums, as I still, and always will have, my 90 LX 5.0. But it's been good fun and great advise I've received here in the S-197 forums!

Thanks guys and gals!

Nick

(Oh BTW I'll be selling all my mods except the springs and wing. :) )

Dude, I have 3 kids, a wife and 7 animals in the house and I just bought my'09 Mustang GT.... a Fusion to me isn't the right answer. Buy an old Suburban or something. I know, I may be jaded, I do have 5 cars.

2009 Mustang GT
2007 G6 GT Convertible
1996 GMC Suburban
1979 Ford F-150
1968 Mustang

Sad to hear you're letting it go! Seems like there's been a few people posting on here lately that they're getting rid of their S197s for various life-related reasons :(

Oh well, the Fusion Hybrid should be a sweet car! Just put some racing stripes on it and it'll feel just like a Mustang :D

The Fusion's are nice, but having a kid (especially only 1) is really not that bad with the Mustang. I cart my daughter around every day in mine. It was a bit of a pain when she was under 1 and the seat had to face the rear, but now that she can face the front, it's super easy.

Yeah my boys 2 and he loves the pony it is easier since he can face foward in he back. He actually gets mad when i pick him up and im not driving the stang lol (yes!)

Why not wait for the twin turbo Taurus SHO and have your cake and eat it too???

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or you could buy a twin turbo kit for your mustang and KICK IT'S A$$!

The way I see it, the Mustang is the PINNACLE of performance. Let me explain why; It has the biggest aftermarket in the world. Horsepower per dollar is the best with the Mustang. There is nothing cheaper for the performance you get than with the Ford Mustang. Period. there is NOTHING that you can build for the street that I couldn't build out of a Mustang for cheaper and kick your ass. That isn't a bet, it's a fact.

Lol... Sorry, but I need to disagree with you a little here... :p

Don't get me wrong. The Mustang is an EXCELLENT car! I love my Stang an unbelievable amount.

But it definitely doesn't have the best HP/$ ratio out there. (Look at the Camaro and Challenger, for example... Not a bad thing though!)

And it's nowhere near the pinnacle of performance. A stock GT is one hell of a car, but it takes more than what Ford gave it to get even close to "pinnacle" performance.

A BMW/Porsche will KEEEEIIIILLLL us through the curves & turns, so long as we're stock.

dunno, ls1s seem to be going for decently cheap now, and with minor things they will make us look like we're stopped.

i agree the mustang has always been a great platform for modification, and the aftermarket has always been there. but theres always greener grass on the otherside. i wish there were more big power n/a newer mustangs. it seems the only way to go is forced induction. which will make anything fast. although for such small cubic inches compared to the competition i'd say we're doing pretty good.

hes still got his 5.0 so he'll have a toy to mess around with.

+ in a few years you'll unfortunately be able to pick these stangs up for 10k less then what they are selling now with low mileage.

OK..... and how much does a new BMW or Porsche cost? With the money that I save from buying a Mustang over a $145,000 Porsche, I could make the Mustang orbit the Moon.

The point is simple, EXPECIALLY when we are talking about the Fox body Mustang. there is nothing out there that can make you faster for cheaper than the Mustang. Maybe the s197 isn't exactly up to par yet waiting on the aftermarket to catch up, but it will be. As far as the Challenger and Camaro... no way man, NO aftermarket support in comparison. I lOVE the Challenger AND the new Camaro, but if you are trying to go fast on a budget, the Mustang is where it's at.

You are very right about the first thing you said! As far as $ to $ goes, the Mustang is UN-BE-LIEV-ABLE. My point however was that as far as a stock car goes, most German made cars have us beat. Once you let us dabble in the aftermarket stuff, we are perfectly capable of DESTROYING them in a road coarse. A great example would be Griggs Racing... Very expensive stuff, but the BEST on the market. You can KEEEIIILLLL Corvettes through the curves, let alone most German cars. S197 GR40RT World Challenge Road Race Chassis
That's a hefty price, but a $30,000 Stang + A TOP-CLASS Suspension setup for $15,000... You have a car that WILL beat most BMWs, Audis, etc.
Not to mention, you can spend $2000 on Steeda's Club Racer kits (what I'm planning on doing) and have a perfectly streetable car that has both power and cornering abilities.

The Mustang, hands down, is where it's at. :nice:

Man...I just got rid of my mustang too. So i feel your pain. Got an xterra to support my mountain bike habits. All I know is that as soon as it is feasible, I am going to be in another mustang.
