I meant to start this when I started the work. I will take pictures of the current state tomorrow.

This is a list of the projects that will be in this thread at some point:

Smoothing engine bay
Building 412 or 418 Windsor stroker, 13:1 CR or so
Diet (removing EVERYTHING not needed)
Weld in cage
Tubular K-member
Fuel cell
Possibly 4 link

The car will be a lightweight monster, used for drag and road racing.

I have my work cut out for me, I know. The car is a 1990 Red Lx hatch. 25th anniversary.

Thanks, I might e-mail/PM you with my plans on the motor, and see what you think of my combo/plan.

Will do. Your engine bay is most of the inspiration for me doing mine like that.

Here are some old pictures, what the car was before the oil pump locked up and started the whole change. Clean, body, STRONG motor.

Here is the start of the engine bay work, and the beginning of the diet. The wheel skates are well worth it. I can move the car anywhere by myself. Under the front quarter panels there was a bunch of surface rust, so that will be a new project too.

No pics of any carnage, the bottom end was still fine. The shaft was snapped, and it got shut off immediately. I'll try to find the shaft or a picture of it. I took a stock shaft to my metal shop in high school, and measured how much torque it would take to cause the twisting of the shaft like it was, and then to the snapping point, 389 ft.lbs.

The wrong thing is the focus of the picture. But you can still see what happened.

I will have no harness. There will be no electronics on the car save ignition, and spark. I'm going carbed.

Is that the one you were selling? I didn't realize you had 2?

I'm so confused.

Its the one I'm keeping, thus the work being done. The one I'm selling has taken another odd turn.
