Bypassing my heater core

The heater core is not hard to remove at all....just take your time, i have gotten where i can do it within an hour now :) and the weight you save would be more than you think!


Well, i might try it... i might wait till this next fall to do it.. i just want to get this sucker running for right now, then go back and tweak everything.. thanks for all the help you guys, i appreciate it!

you got it wrong...sort of

water pump bypass hoses DO go to the heater core...
however, one of them goes into the t stat housing.
it flows through the intake, to the passenger side front corner, then into the pipe

then to the core, then the other pipe, and back to the water pump.

something bad will happen if you dont let coolant run through the intake :eek:
 
I was thinking about this all weekend. I took the housing and stared at it for a while, and now im thinking i need to at least have the bypass hose hooked up...

Reasoning. If i dont have it hooked up, coolant wont flow through the intake until the thermostat opens. with that bypass, it will at least flow the coolant through the intake regardless of what the thermostat is doing. so i think ill just run the bypass hose and block off the otehr hole in the water pump that goes to the heater core.
