I bought a trans from a guy that told me it was a C4 but it is a C6 instead. Whats the difference? Can a C6 be used in a Mustang? I paid $150 for it thinking it was a C4. Do I need to try to get my money back?

i've heard of c6's in mustangs, but they are rather large and heavy. may require some tunnel mods (big hammer). personally i would try to return it. c4 is hard to beat.

Stick with a C4. The C6 is a really stout tranny but a bit heavy and you loose more power to the rear end through it. Examples of factory C6s in mustangs are pretty much reserved for classics with Big blocks.

will it fit without any modifications? Sure will......... Do you need it for a stock-mild small block application...sure don't...... I'd go for a C4 in your situation, unless you want to swap in a big block

Wait!! IF it is the small block C6 ( bolts up to the SBF ) then even though it IS heavier, it is STRONG!! I would see if you could sell it!! then buy the C4 if you want!! The small block C6 is worth a min of 250.00 !!!!! Just a thought

Just me.................................

It is a small block C6. I have a Tremec 3550 in the car I was wanting to put the C4 tranny in. How much heavier is the C6 than the 3550? Thanks again for the help.
