Got the 69 inspected and ligned up.Lots of power with the 351.Handles good.The problem is it wants to shift out of first quick.Doesnt matter if your taking it easy or getting on it,it still wants to shift almost immediately into second.Doesnt matter though the tires are still smoking when its in second.Is it the vacum modulator?If I remember right they are color coded and they control the shift points.Any suggestions to fix the problem?I can manually shift it and it works fine.

The modulator is adjustable. There are also different length rods that connect the VB to the modulator. Screwing in the modulator or using a longer pin should help. Here is something I lifted from another forum.
What happens when you disconnect the modulator vacuum line and plug it? It should shift real late - if it doesn't then you have some shift valves that are either hung up or have been disabled for "manual" shifting.
