c6 in a fox 302?????

I'm thinking you might have problems at the bellhousing area.

I know I moved a couple ford trannys the other day making room for more parts.
Moved a c4 first and a c6 next there was a pretty big diff.

I can toss a old c6 on a scale if your interested tomorow at the shop and let you know.

I still think theres going to be bellhousing space problems though but I've been wrong b4.

Might have to get drive shaft cut also.. That can get into the bucks real fast.

I think I spent almost 200+ getting a shaft made for a custom aplication last time I had it done.

yah that would be cool if u could weigh one and then weigh a t5 mabey and a c4 :) but i can get the tranny thats good, a converter and flexplate free.... then all i was gonna buy was a manual valve body cooler, and shifter.. just wasnt sure if the driveshaft, exhaust, and starter would work?>???

Only t5 I have is a 4 banger but I guess weight will be semi close.
I'll toss a 302 bellhousing on the scale with it.

I can tell you now theres a huge diff in the t5 and any auto.

I installed my t5 by crawling under the car with it laying on my chest and lifted it into place by hand.
I know for sure I couldn't have done a auto like that.

I wish I could find one for that cheap.. I cant find a custom aluminum driveshaft for less than $365.. & there's a 3 week waiting period on that one. All the others I've found are $400 & over :bang:

ok the c6 will work but it would not be good behind a 302, trust me. i had a truck with a 302 c6 and it took a lot of power to turn up to 60 more HP than a c4 actually. it is severely heavy, i had to carry one by myself. if you had a 429 or something then you could use it and be happy, it is a heavy duty tranny and i think one of the best that ford made.

I have a C6 went a 2800 stall converter in my 90 Notch and I didn't have to do anything but bolt it up. I have a ford mini starter to give me more room. I have a custom exhaust so I don't know if the stock stuff will bolt up. I had an aluminum Drive shaft made but I dont know if a stock one would fit. I love my C6. It a daily driver and it holds up. C6 are tough unlike a C4. I've went threw 4 of them already. A C6 doesn't rob that much power that you will even notice a difference. When I decide to get a new tranny it will probably a TH350 or 400. I run a powerglide in my racecar an they are awsome but not a good street trans because you would be in 1st gear everywhere you go.

The Cleveland has the same bellhousing size/pattern as the 302/351W. If the tranny is off a 351M/400M/429/460 it won't bolt up.

You will need a flexplate with the correct ballence for your engine and a torque converter for the C6 that will bolt to your flexplate. The C6 does take 60 hp to operate. C4 takes like 40 hp to operate. All C6's have 31 spline output comparred to 28 spline in the T5/AOD/C4. So you will need that too. Stock for stock the C6 is bigger and stronger than the C4. If the aftermarket is involved the C4 is better....it's stonger and lighter.

a c6 will work but damn they are big and heavy plus you would need a different drive shaft..... a c4 works mint! specialy when you throw in a manual valve body and a shift kit.... I have one but I don't think you wanna travel to Canada to get it lol ;)
