C6 Tranny ?s

1) What are peoples opinions on using a C6 transmission for drag racing?

2) Is it worth putting behind a 6-700 hp motor?

3) Does the strength out weigh the added weight and hp loss?

Depends, some think not. I think of it as this way - like going from a 8" to 9" rearend....heavier, drains more output but it takes the abuse. How many people would not go to a 9" if they had the chance?

If I had a 6-700 hp motor, I wouldn't hesitate on using a C-6. C-4's are fragile enough behind lesser motors.

true but you can get a c-4 thats built to handle almost 1000+ so they say, and you still have the lesser drivetrain loss, etc.
but if i had a c-6 id go with that instead of buying a whole new trans

PA SuperComp is rated to 1000, I think thats a stretch but at 600-700 its prob fine. Lifetime warrenty, you pay shipping to and from, but still its peace of mind.

Im at 550 or so, and so far its been flawless and shift nice a firm. Ill know more next yr how tuff it is when I throw 150 more HP at it.

It run the C4 like this, or go to a powerglide. If you have that much power where a C4 is too weak, just step to the PG IMO.

A built c4 will be a better choice than a c6 IMO. C6 is really heavy and drivetrain loss is much more. No doubt the c6 has more potential to handle more power but with all the built c4s these days, not really necessary.

If you don't like pulling and replacing transmissions. go with the C-6. If you do like pulling transmissions, go with a C-4. Simple as that.
