Cable clutch adjustment?

Recently put in a ron morris cable clutch setup with the T5 in the 66. Works awesome, however I noticed that the free-play feels a lot different than the mechanical Zbar. With the Zbar there was a definate point where the throwout bearing contacted the pressure plate, as I could manually flick the fork back and forth and hear it hit.

With the new cable style clutch linkage, I cannot really feel this free-play. I have the clutch adjusted so that it begins to grab a few inches off the ground, and rigged a spring from the fork to the transmission so that it pulls the fork off the pressure plate fingers (or so I hope).

Is the new style throwout bearing/fork assembly supposed to be in contact with the pressure plate fingers? It seems the stock clutch cables found in the mustangs with the T5 had a self adjusting mechanism.


If it helps, I am using the T5 bellhousing, T5 trans, 289 flywheel and clutch assembly. Everything works smooth, I'm just paranoid about the TOB wearing prematurely. I had it adjusted so that I could feel freeplay at the fork, and it would grind trying to go into gear. So I adjusted it a little more, and got it to not grind when going into gear from an idle. Should it be safe to assume that this is correct?
 
Second question. When the parts all break in and whatever, is it common for the cable to stretch just a little bit as it wears into its position where its going to be?

The enguagement point changed ever so slightly, and I had to adjust it a teeny bit more. I have heard horror stories about cables snapping and everything, don't want this to happen to me on a busy intersection

Yes.

It's not so much cable strech as it is the clutch disc wearing out. Cables don't strech very much, and when they fail, the don't usually give any warning. They just fail.
