Cadillac CTS-V Oh My...

Now this is an amazing car. GM pulled everything right with what I've seen. i was sitting around the dealership today and some guy came in with a new CTS-V. AMAZING exhaust sound, FAST as a hell, LOOKS like a toy car. Wait what? Yeah it looks like its made out of the cheapest plastic ever. But daaaang that thing is a beast. Don't know what I'd do if I saw a STS-V.

Anyone race one in a stang? Would get wasted.

Just went to the site, looks bad. I wish it had exhaust clips, they're talking too loud during it. I'll take one when the roadster comes out please.

Nevermind, just looked further. The XLR doesn't come in stick. Only the STS does that doesn't make much sense...

The STS comes in stick now>? Thats just plain retarded. My friend has a cts-v, I think a 05+ could take it with minor bolt ons. My car on the other hand sees tail lights after 30mph

I was passing next to a guy in a CTS-V and I guess he thought I was trying to race b/c he took off. It was on a road with a lot of cops usually so I didn't bother. It definately was fast though.

I've seen them, and they are drop-dead gorgeous. What do you mean cheap plastic? I've never seen the interior, but for a Caddy I would expect more craftsmanship.

They are only slightly faster then an '05 stock to stock. Fastest I have seen is a 13 flat. Think of it as a heavier GTO with a softer suspension.

I do like the exhaust sound. And yes, the interior is not exactly what I would expect in a car of that price. But then again, the interior isn't the main selling point either.

I have been following these on the GT/GTS circuit since the beginning of the season and the "V" series has been able to holds its own to the Porschas and the Vipers. I am not sure how they will do straight track, but the CTS-V is hammering home in SCCA.

Time and time again I am amazed at the agility of that beast for it being "the fat chick at the prom"...she's catching some serious attention.

P.S. EDIT: Don't count it out simply because it says Automatic. The all new Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed has DSC capability that allows the driver to shift via clutchless control. In reality, this is the best of both worlds. One day in our lifetime, manuals in high end sports cars may very well be gone.

And this looks alright by my standards..

The CTS-V is a 6 speed manual. The STS is an auto. The interior you posted is that if an STS.

CTS-V is equipped with the LS6 motor from the Corvette Z06. 0-60 around 4.7 secs and agile as well. Top Gear pitted it against an Audi S4 and it smoked it around the track (the S4 is AWD). It is definitely a nice ride and deserves respect as a performance vehicle. You can get them used for $37k and up.

By the way, they have an LS2 now (6.0L), 2004's had an LS6 (5.7L). The LS6 was actually the better of the two IMHO as it made 5 more hp and had a slightly lower compression ratio. Plus a 350 sounds more traditional then a 364, then again it wasn't really a 350, it was a 346.

03 SVT, yes the 2006 will have the LS2. I would be interested to see exactly what if any improvement it brings to the car.

Hopefully for those GM/Caddy fans, the improvements would include a more durable rear end. I've lurked a while on the CTSV boards and read a lot of complaints about the glass rear end and bad wheel hop. IMO, nice four door but not as sexy as the '05 Stang.

I guess it's "beauty is in the eye of the beholder".
IMHO the CTS is ugly as sin. The V series looks a lot better than a regular CTS, but it's still ugly to me. At least the STS has the ugly factor toned down a bit.

I have test drive CTSs and the interior is really cheap ugly hard edged plastic. Even worse than the 05/06 Mustang (I really don't like the dash and door panel plastic on the Mustang too). The bottoms of the windows are really high so I felt like I was sitting in a bath tub when driving the CTS.

The GM auto trannie is excellent. Ford could use an auto trannie that good. In fact the Ford engineers wanted to use the GM auto trannie in the Lincoln LS but were shot down by upper management.

I will hand it to GM, the CTS-V is blindingly fast, Ford really needs something that performs like it. I'd love to have a Lincoln LS (Or even a Mustang)with a LS2 power train.

No offense taken Boss. I was tired and needed to go to bed. As for the CTS, I had considered one before I bought the Stang. It is too angular for me. I like round ample lines and curves.

the wheel hop is from road-ablility, same reason in the GTO IRS and Cobra IRS. If you put stiffer bushings in then every would whine that the ride is too bumpy. You have to remember this is a production car and car mags will cry about how stiff the ride is.

I already have a very similar tranny in my Magnum. It's alright, but not near as fun or responsive as a true manual, this is why I said I would go with the CTS-V, instead of the XLR-V.

I think it'd take more than intake and exhaust to hang with one of these. They run 13.1's all day. Now exhaust, intake, tune, and gears, now you're talking.

GM has reportedly fixed (or at least reduced) the wheel hop issue with a TSb for a new set of bushings. Supposedly reduces hop and strain on the rear end making them a bit more durable. There is also something called a KARS cradle which sounds like an advanced concept of what we used to call ladder bars. KARS is an aftermarket thing though. I like the car but dollar for dollar it doesn't get much better than a Mustang GT (once you beat a decent price out of the dealers).

I meant the exterior looks a lot like plastic. Maybe its just those tail lights I dunno. I know they're MADE of plastic but they look so cheap. I'm not really sure but it still is a beautifully made car by GM. Now I have TWO cars I'd buy from GM if I had a chance. A C6 Vette and a CTS-V.
