My uncle (who already owns a 450hp Viper and a 327ci/400hp '32 Ford 5-Window) said if they make the 300C in a convertable with the 425hp hemi he would be the first on the list to buy one. Both of us are pretty impressed with that car, it is probibly the closest thing to a muscle car in a long time. The Stang, Camaro, and GTO are more pony cars and arn't the most comfortable to drive, and the CTS-V is a bit out of the muscle car price range (Though a fully optioned 300C SRT would be close). Personally though i'm waiting for GM to get their butt in gear and make a Chevelle with the Vette LS7 in it, I might even settle for a 427 GTO Judge if they make the thing a bit better looking.

I just returned home from attending an HPDE event. A CTSv was there as well. He had a few mods not sure what they are though. I never ran him, we were in different groups, but that thing was pretty fast. Looked like it did very well in the corners.

Correct me if I am wrong, (I'm sure you will) but I understood the CTS-v to have the old Z06 engine (405 hp.) It was dubbed the LS6(I think), but didn't change displacement from the LS1 that came in your standard C5 corvette. The C6 corvette has the LS2 you mentioned. Did the CTS-v also change to the LS2? The new Z06 is an LS7 427 with 500hp. Imagine that crate engine!

The LS1 and LS6 are both 5.7L or 346 ci. The LS2 is a 6L or 364ci engine and the LS7 is a 7L or 427. The CTS-V changed from the LS6 (old Z06 motor) to the LS2 (New base vette motor) in 2004/2005 I think. The LS6 was a handbuilt motor, the LS2 is basically an LS6 designed for mass production, it uses a lot of the same parts, but is easier to build. I think the LS6 is a better motor for a few reasons, but the LS2 is no slouch. The LS7 however is amazing, a handbuilt 427 that is street legal........wow!

Those caddy's are running high 12's actually and woudl destroy an '05 GT. Remember, even the 'old' LS1's were running low 13's and there still faster then us.

More like low 13's, their weight and IRS take off quite a bit. If they had the same rear gear as the stang they would really be only slightly faster in the 1/4. But, they would kill in top speed.

Ah yes. The Red Headed Step child that almost nobody talks about. LoL

I brought this thread back from the dead because it popped up in my feed. This was the Gen1 V. The Gen 2 and 3 Vs are all [cleanly] into GT-500 territory.

There's a Gen1 floating around my town that is immaculate. He went a bit overboard on the engine mods IMO and to me 'lessened' what the Gen 1 V was about.
