Hey Guys

I am new to the board, jut got my 03 GT last friday and want to start moding it lightly so I thought to get a CAI but not sure what to get, there are tons
out there for Mustangs. I know I am not gonna maks tons of power of a CAI but would like to get something that will work OK with the 75 MM TB and the other go fast stuff when I get that next spring.

The car is just killing me stock :D

Thanks

Why exactly is it not good?, or should I say is it not good because the rest of the car is stock and would be better when there are more mods or is it not a good mod period.

thanks

Yeah save yourself some $ and do this..........
Buy a K&N filter, install it, remove rubber air silencer that sticks into the
wheel well................ you now have a CAI, its definatly an improvement
over stock. I took off my Mac Cai and put it on a shelf in my garage.

JLT cold air... to aswer your question...

do not get any of the shiny metal ones like mac or BBK unless you just want bling... i think they are dyno proven to lose like 3whp lol... i noticed a smother pull when i installed the JLT on my engine that nothing other than flowmaster weld in mufflers... i would suggest that you get a steeda Tri-Ax shifter, 4.10 gear, prochamber and catback before you worried about an intake tho... as it flows pretty good from the factory.. my friend is running the stock rubber hose on his 422whp supercharged GT motor... using the SVO blower.

forego the CAI, and do the K&N
Swap out your gears to something lower 3.73 or 4.10
Short throw shifter, MGW, PRO 5.0,Steeda Tri-ax
Long tube headers $$
Full length sub frame connectors
Better springs H&R sports
That oughtta get you started.

Thanks guys very informative,
I am getting the lowering springs tomrrow and will pick the K&N by the weekend. Gears and exhaust & tuner will be next season.. have to sell the old Talon first.

if you are going to start modding i really suggest searching on everything first. many people have made a lot of mistakes for first mods and this can save time, from intake/exhaust, suspension, etc. its easier answering questions spawned from searching other posts then trying to assist around mods that were poorly chosen...

Demolet is my suggestion on CAI, and i noticed an improvement over the K&N i had in its place. dont believe me, fine, i got my moneys worth from it.

also, before just "getting lowering springs" i really suggest doing some research, as there can be a load of mistakes and problems to fix if you start wrong. maybe its because i am a suspension guy that i get annoyed with people do that, but whatever. and since you had a talon i am assuming you rae looking at mods from an import point of view... bad idea, american V8s and just about every other car on the market respond differently to the same mods.... just how it goes... dont assume, ask/search.

I dunno about everyone else...but the second I got my car I wanted to make it louder...always my first mod, the exhaust. :nice: But a JLT color matched CAI looks absolutely sick.

Aman to that. I have a JTL color matched to my car (Mineral Grey). it looks graet under the hood. On a side note: My intake tube cracked and I contacted JTL. They replaced it with no questioned asked. Great group of guys to work with. Pearl.

Forego everything else and get 3.73s and a Mongoose Supercharger kit. Nothing will give you bang for the buck performance on these cars like gears and some sort of forced induction, be it a blower or nitrous. I noticed NO gain from my 50 dollar K&N air filter, and will not buy another one for anything less than a Cobra. JMO.
