Hey what is the difference between the MAC straight shot and the K&N FIPK. I have the K&N but the MAC SS looks like it comes with a different MAF meter but for the price it seems unreal. Anybody here running the MAC SS and if so how do you like and does it make more power than the FIPK.

They are different! The K&N unit is a CAI, whereas the MAC SS is a CAI +MAF housing. I highly suggest you STAY AWAY from the MAC unless you want to get a custom tune too. Reason is the MAC SS MAF housing is 5MM bigger than the stock MAF housing. The MAC SS instructions have you remove the electronics from your stock MAF and put them in the MAC MAF housing. So now you have electronics calibrated for a 90MM MAF sampling air intake via a 95MM MAF. This artificially leans out your A/F thereby fooling your ECM. Not a smart way to gain power at all! STAY AWAY FROM THE MAC SS!

Even a stock 03 with the stock 3:55's has enough low end torque to rip off 1.7 and lower 60' times all day long. Lower gearing is not the answer, traction is! Get yourself some good sticky tires and prep the hell out of your IRS and you can rip off 1.7's in your sleep. The stock 3:55's are just fine. Lower gearing will NOT lower your 60' times in this car with no other modifications to the rear suspension. On the other hand, modifying the IRS and leaving the 3:55's alone WILL net you lower 60' times. The IRS sucks when it comes to drag launches. If you really want to do a lot of drag racing in your car you may want to look into swapping the IRS for a straight axle out of a GT. That's what many of the serious drag racing 03/04 guys do.
