I am about to install 96 explorer heads, intake and throttle body on my 90 GT. I also have 1,7 roller rockers to put in. I guess i must uppgrade valve springs but is cam uppgrade a waste of money? I was thinking Crane Powermax 2031 cam and spring kit or just new springs and stock HO cam. Car is 5-speed with 3.08 rear.

I have a VERY simular setup. I went with a Ford Racing Spring, Ford Racing M-6513-A50 Ford Racing Valve Springs and an E-303. You can leave the stock cam if you wish, and you might be happy with the performance, but since you are almost down that far might as well swap them out, toss a timing chain in there and a fresh waterpump...
install a new cam. youll gain good performance if you dont go and get too much duration and dont bring the LSA in too far. id say anderson n-21 or comp cams 270hr-12. i have stock gt40 heads on my 93 cobra and put a e303 in and put 270 to the wheels which is a pretty good gain with just a cam over stock.
