I am about to remove my chains and want to make sure I have the eng aligned right. I set TDC on the harmonic balancer and verified that the 1st piston on the pasenger side is at the top. Is that corect? Now I have the front cover off. I am looking at the large cam sprokets and the pass side dimples are at 11:00 and the driver side is just a bit past 12:00. Is this corect? When I goto remove the cam sprockets I need to know if they are keyed so that when I go to reinstall them that they are in the corect position. When I remove the chains is it nessisary to have the copper link align with those dimples on the sprocket? I made a cam position tool using a piece of angle iron and two 3/8th drive shorty extentions. I stuck the extentions into the back of the cams and then welded them to the piece of angle iron. I hope that it works. If so it saved me a ton of cash and hassle. So what else an I missing? Am I good to go as far as removing the heads? Is there a trick to this or am I making it more complicated then it needs to be?
