cam choices for stock gt40p head

That's the exact same combo I'm putting together. How's it run?

First, I drive an '88 Thunderbird (Fox body of course), and there's a lot in common with the Stangs, some differences. Not a real heavy car like some think (accurate weight this week)....now, about the performance, I haven't been to the track yet, but, I can tell that it easily out performs my last engine (as stated above, '86 short block,BBK's,E303. ported E-7's and Explorer intake with 65mm t-body). The car pulls really hard through all the gears (5 speed0,and can easily roast the rear tires without even breaking a sweat, and I have 275 40 17's out back. Traction is a must. It loves to run hard, and even when I'm driving the Sport like I stole it, the engine seems to thrive on it. I need to ad some 24# injectors though. I ran out of funds for a Mass Air meter and injectors (bought sound deadener for the entire car and had the a/c hooked up and running cold). I did mange to install the Crane Gold 1.7 roller rockers last Friday, and I could tell the difference between those and the 1.6 rolers I had on there. I have a 2 1/2 inch exhaust (no cats), using a Pype's O/R X-Pipe and 40 series Flowmasters....for now. Those mufflers are going away and I'm going to get some with a little less drone. It really will sit you back in the seat easily and put a smile on your face. LOL. If you have any more questions, let me know.

to answer your question. gt40 head arent going to flow much after .500 lift. also to clarify max lift has nothing to do with piston to valve clearance. i would stick with the tfs 1. its a good solid cam.
