cam degree ?'s Advance 2* = ? seat of the pants

I have searched - My E303 w/ 1.7's feels wimpy off idle but comes on strong after several hundred RPM's - I miss the low end pull of the stock cam w/ 1.7's right off idle. I read advancing the E303 cam by as much as 6* will increase low end punch off idle --- BUT how much? What can I expect to feel - I do not mind losing power above 5k RPM as I NEVER get that high but I do not want to lose midrange up to that point. I understand about how to degree a cam and I know mine was installed dot to dot (yes I know this means nothing more than in the neighborhood). Lets ASSUME that the cam is actually installed correctly to the cam card and tell me what I should FEEL! This is a big job since the car is a daily driver so I need to know if all the fuss is worth it! Another solution which I have heard is much easier and much more attractive since I already planned on doing it - swap the 3.27's for 3.73's which I will be doing in a few weeks - will this be as effective or more effective or less effective. Car has the supporting mods to make it move - New rebuild, Crane 120lb closed rated springs, 1.7's, Crane roller lifters,CAI, 76mm C&L, 70mm T/B, Performer 5.0, Ported E7's (light exhaust port), MAC equal length shorties, high flow exhaust, electric fan, underdrives, AFPR, 5spd w/ 3.35 1st gear, CenterForce Dual friction, and several more items -- soon to have 190lph & 24 #'s -- Car is 93 GT 'Vert. (heavy)

Still wondering if it will make a NOTICABLE (25hp or 5hp & torque etc...) difference per a given RPM down low per each 2* advance degreed into the E303 cam or if I should skip this major undertaking and look for other ways to improve off idle seat of the pants pull. What kind of RPM low end torque shift should be expected? Any suggestions on improving low end off idle pull besides what has been done (gears are on the way as well as 190lph & 24#'s)?

I've always heard the E-cam never really took much low end from the engine. even if does change a gear swap will more then make up for it.

e303 cam

Ford racing says to install this cam 4deg advanced. It is also a 1.6 ratio rocker cam. They did not recommend using 1.7's when I talked to them.

Thanks - however, what's done is done though -- 1.7's and straight up (theoretically of course) -- Just wondering what kind of seat of the pants difference I will feel if I went to all the trouble of degreeing it. As of right now the car runs perfectly, idles at 800rpm with a VERY nice rumble, sounds perfect under power, gets 24mpg hwy so far and 20mpg in combined driving (19lb injectors 14.5* timing) on 87 octane with no sign of detonation, has decent power, runs smooth, etc... Just feels a bit sluggish off the line if I am not stabbing it wide open. I street drive the car every day and start to let the clutch out just above idle and ease on the gas - my other Mustang has the stock cam with 1.7's and half of the performance goodies this one has (weighs lots less though since it is a 1970 resto-mod with 3.50 gear) and I drive it the same way - it feels WAY better off idle.

Don't waist your time tearing the timing cover off to degree the cam, this cams powerband shouldn't hurt bottom end torque to much. This problem will be corrected with a simple gear swap (4.10' or 3.73's) these gears will keep you in your powerband and you will be more than satisfied. Gears are by far the best bang for the buck.
