Cam question for my new eng... moved from 5.0. HELP!? Thanks....

Hi all,

94 -95 GT. I am buying a 306 with a B303 cam and flat top pistons. I am going to add headers and x-pipe and cat back but hold off on intake and NEW heads and just rework the old ones for now.

My question is that after reading the posts on here about the B-303, I am hearing it has actually LESS low end punch than my stock set up. The E I have heard is not to good idle but corrected if up'd idle. So my question is, can you all recommend a better cam for this set up that has better low end than the B but just as good power considering my set up? Maybe back to "e" or crane 2031? Hp differences? Thank you.

The crane 2031 or steeda#19 or the wolverine 1190 will work good for mild set-ups. BUT first he must decide on what heads and intake your going to buy first BEFORE choosing a cam.

First thing I thought about after reading your post was.....................

If you don't wanna change the cam TWICE, then you might wanna consider picking one that will go good with your long term goals.

If better heads are in the future, I wouldn't put a penny in the stockers.

Look at what WhiteDevil did with a 2031 in his combo.

Thanks guys! I am going to have it custom ground to the specs of the crane 2031! I like that guy's set up and was planning on going in his general direction anyway.

Nothing wrong with John's combo at all.

I had posted in the wrong thread cause I guess I had a brain fart or whatever.

Since you replied back, I would tell you to forget the custom cam stuff if you wanna use those specs and just buy that cam off the shelf.
