Ok, so I want to upgrade my 88 2.3NA to the Ranger Roller cam. I was wondering what else needed to be changed during the process? I need to replace my lifters, so do I need to use the stock ranger lifters or is there another recommended style? Also, I was looking at Racer Walsh and noticed that there are a couple different replacement cam gears. Would I need or get any benefit from an adjustable cam gear? This my first EFI car so I am still learning how to mod it. On my older SBC I would just slap in a new cam and turn the distributor to adjust timing. Anything else I need to consider or replace while I have it stripped down? Thanks

You just need the cam and roller followers...

You still turn the distributor to adjust ignition timing just like your old 350...the adjustable cam gear is for CAM timing...it's for moving the power up and down in the rpm range...

Stock timing is probably pretty good for a na motor.

Its a good way to get to know your 2.3 internally. It has its advantages, frees up a little hp and rev's a little easier. I noticed a smother idle when i did mine (read: roller). Its pretty much the stock 2.3 cam except in roller form.
