Cam, timing chains........

Personally I like the XE274H. Decent bottom end, good throttle response. Haven't installed it yet so as of now this is still an opinion

Also, when installing a cam, I set the crank to TDC and then put the cam in, line up the dots on the timing gear set it on and I am good to go? Do i have to degree it? Should I go all felpro? If you're going to go with a Comp Cams cam, then get a their timing set as well, go for a double roller set. This way you don't have to worry about degreeing it. That cam will get you good off-line response, but will run out of steam at about 5000-5500 rpms. Also recommend using Comps' lifters as well. You have a good handle on how to set up the cam when putting it in. One other word on installing it though, only appy a thin film of assembly lube on the cam and lifter bottoms ( not the sides of the lifters) and use a non detergent 30 weight oil to break it in. Run it at break-in as per Comps instructions, then shut it down and change the oil and filter. Also prime the oil system BEFORE starting it up to break it in.
