I talked to comp cams and they suggested I go with the extreme energy cam which is duration @ .050 218int 224exh with 544 lift my heads have 1.7 rockers which will make my lift about 574... im going to change the springs so they can handle 600 lift. so my question is do you think that is too big for the street?? :SNSign:

That is tiny. "Too big" LOL!!

Do you know enough about cam's to know if a 1.7 rocker will be beneficial? My guess is no.

Your sig says custom grind cam. Whats up with that??

previous owner put in a custom grind for a future blower, but the blower never came, because he sold the car to me, but with whats in it its a dog off the line with a whole lot of top end. no i dont know a lot about cams at all, but that is what comp cams suggested with the 1.7 rockers. what do you think?

I suggest a custom instead of spending the same amount and guessing. With a $1,300 cylinder head i'd want to make some power to make it all worth it.

1 - No way is that too big.

2 - If I were to do a camshaft on a 302 with a 3 inch stroke, I would run something with more duration (at least 10 degrees in both direction more) and less lift.

3 - Get a custom stick... not only do you get the best cam for your needs but you also get the knowledge of the grinder, which is sometimes worth just as much.

I agree! I'd also get a custom cam too since they are not much more than a quality OTS one.

DO NOT email him unless you have EXACT specifics. Combo, what you're wanting do do with the car, flow #'s, etc. He knows his chit, but has no time for you if you don't at least get that much info. for him. His contact info. is on the site.

Good luck man.

I believe he got back to me in around 10-12 days...busy guy.

anything over 240 dur. at .050 is starting to get a little large for the street, but it could be tuned to sit nicely at idle...there would just be a bit of lope. emissions would be a bit harder to get around.

I'll be looking at somewhere in that neighbourhood with a pair of heads in the $3000 range all said and done. I'll be attempting to pass emissions with it too. see if the tweecer and rhoads lifters can do it together.
