Ok,
I'm lookin for some cams.. I've got a set of Comp springs on order and am really liking the comp XE274H cams. I've read about some people having PTV issues and some not. I've also read god only knows how many threads about degree'ing the cams, problems, etc. I want to hear from people who have them or have had them and there opinions. Also, where is the best place to get them (cheapest). And Should I order them w/ the 5* of advance REmoved from the cam, or order them with the 5* in the cam?
Mods to car:
FRPP/SVO blower @ 5psi (waiting on 9psi pulley)
Full O/R Exhaust
4.10 gears

I had interference with my aftermarket pistons but if you're running stock then you should be ok. If you ordered them without the advance ground in you'd DEFINATELY be ok. However, with your blower I'd recommend not going with the 274's. You'll bleed off too much boost, especially at sub 3500 rpm. VT makes some excellent blower specific cams. I'm not saying you'd lose power running the Comp's but honestly you'd probably only gain about 10-15 at the top of the tach and lose 10-15 at the lower end. The VT blower specific's would add a nice 20-25 across the board. Maybe more.

I'm aware of the boost bleeding off.. but I also haven't ordered my 9psi pulley yet, as im hoping to get the cams installed so i can see just how much boost i will lose with them, so i can get the correct boost for the 9psi.

Also with this blower now, you dont really start feeling the boost until around 2800 - 3000 rpm. I've also heard that most of the VT cams are on backorder..

Does anyone have a link to VT's website?

Also,at any boost level you're going to have some bleed off.

I'm aware of that.. And i don't mind the 1 or 2 psi loss, if i'm gettin more airflow into and out of the motor.

are you opposed to throwing on a set of PI heads and cams at the same time?

Yes I am, b/c I don't have the $$$$ for a new blower, not to mention the 10.5:1 compression probably won't be too good with 9psi of boost... I've also got another spare set of Non PI heads that will be gettin P&P'd around the end of the year.

I follow what you're saying about being ok with losing some "psi" but what I"m saying is:it won't just be a reduction in boost pressure because of the better airflow. You will actually be losing some of the air volume out the exhaust. So,we know that boost pressure is not a direct indicator of airflow and your pressure will drop NOT just because of the added airflow, but because of the air not staying in the cylinder.
