Cams?

when people talk about power down low.. It is kinda misleading. When your racing how much time do you spend below 4500? I spend as little as possible that low. Most of your race 1/8 , 1/4 it doesnt matter.. your gonna be 3800 and above, so who cares what torque you make at 3500????

For racing that makes perfect sense, but it would be nice to retain as much as the low end as possible for every day driving. I spend most of my time below 3k RPM when im just driving around, some spirited runs every now and then but most of the time the tourqe down low would help.

do you really need 250 HP to cruise at 55?

I dont understand though.. did you have to rev your car to 4000 to begin with to get it moving? It doesnt take 250 ftlbs of torque to get a car moving at a decent speed in traffic... if it did then the 6'ers would be dead in the water lol.

I am not bashing the choice of stage 1's. they are a GREAT cam with no need for aftermarket valvetrain. I just dont agree with the low end power argument. these motors are made to rev... have at it. :nice:

I know they are made to rev but i am just wanting to see what other people say..But i see what he is saying with the stage 1s he can feel the power kick in at a lower rpm and all..I would guess good to toy with people at red lights..I dont think somone is going to drop there clutch at 4 grand and all....

haha.. your buddies comment about only gaining a "couple of horses" makes me laugh. I gained almost 50 rwhp at 6000 rpms with VT Stage 2's... I'd say that's more than a couple.

Fedex came this morning and got me my purchase

Comp Cams EX270AH-13
Comp cams Valve springs 26113-16

Yeah baby yeah, can't wait to get this puppy installed.

what the difference in a N/A cam and a blower cam?
I would say the main thing to know about these cams is you need the right cam for the right application. Meaning you do NOT want to run NA cams with a supercharger. For example VT N/A Stage 2's are AWESOME for N/A cars and cars with nitrous, but you would not want to run a blower with them. Because of the LSA it would pulls lots of boost right out of the exhaust never being used :( that's why if you have a blower you want to get the blower cams, that will properly use your boost :)
