Is it possible for excessive camshaft end play to cause smoking? I've been tearing down my motor trying to figure out why it was smoking on and off, and this is one of the only things I can find. The end play is excessive, like 3/8 or 1/4 of an inch. Just wondering, and is this corrected w/ cam bearings or can it be adjusted?
