I've searched the boards several times looking for an answer to this question before posting.

I want to go with 4.10s in my 2000 GT. I know the speedometer will need to be recalibrated. I don't want to spend the money on a tune, tuner, or speedcal if I can help it. What I want to know is if a ford dealer can reprogram my stock computer to compensate for the new rear end gear ratio? Has anyone here actually had this done or know if it can be done. I'd greatly appreicate any information. I called my local dealer but they were unsure. They said I'd have to bring it in to find out.

I tried this already, with the access they give to techs it can not be done. They have really limited what can be changed in programmable parameters.

LOL some of the older windstars you could play make slight adjustments to fuel/timing by changing the octane setting in programmable parameters. LOL that came in handy to stop the pinging on those POS vans.
