Can a lowered car ride smooth?

My car (89 LX hatch) is dropped and it rides like S**T! They guy I bought it from had drag struts, 50/50's in the rear, and then lowered it. It sucks to drive in. The littlest bump drives your spine to the top of your head. Are there any shocks and struts out there that will cure this or do I need to raise it back up to stock height?

Go with dual adjustable Koni's. You'll get a better ride. But, it still depends a lot on the *exact* springs you have, if you have CC plates, bumpsteer, sub-frames, STB, etc.

The cheapest solution is to go with the non adjustable Tokicos.

Yup. But, smooth roads are a MYTH in New England and the Tri-state area.

Heck, roads are a MYTH! We have potholes connected with small patches of asphalt.

Yea...theres not much you can do. I guess you could pay a lot of money for nice adjustable struts/shocks and then set them to the softest setting, but it really wont help much. Honestly i felt a huge difference in my car's ride quality after full length SFC's and custom roll bar! Stiffening the chassis makes the suspension actually work independently! You can either handle and look good or you can have a nice ride....not both! sorry

MY notch rides nicer then most cars I've riden in. It has all MM rear suspension,hr springs, and a torque arm kit.

I'm new to the lowered car thing. Do I need to know exactly what springs I have to order new shocks and struts or do I just order them for my year and model?

order your strut and shock for the year and model.

Mine is pretty smooth and our roads are BAD over here... Eibach Sportlines.

I have Eibach Sportlines, Tokico shocks/struts and sfcs and I don't think mine rides that bad. You can get a decent ride by going with a decent set up and having it work together instead of against each other.

Mine ride is a little stiff, but I don't really care. BBK Progressive rate springs with KYB and Polyurethane bushings.

The differnce in corners is worth the stiff ride on the straights!
