As the title says, I have 3/8" studs on my heads now and have a set of 7/16" roller rockers.

Can I run those rockers on that head, as long as the slot width on the rocker nut is the same. I can see the rocker shifting because it is bolted down and held up by the pushrod.

Bad idea? Good idea? Possible?

Bad idea

There would be way to much play between the stud and the rocker, and it probably would cause some sort of valvetrain damage rather quickly.

Do not do it, it won't last, I promise...

Sell them and get the right size

i would get 7/16" studs if possible, they should only be 2-3.00 each since that's all you need. you said stud, but i'm just clarifying they are not pedestal mount, right? make sure everything is the correct size or you will do some damage, trust me you dont want your rockers trashed, not to mention what all those metal shavings can do to an engine

Get the 7/16" studs and swap out the 3/8"s. You're better off with the 7/16"s anyway. Less flex on the studs and it's an easy swap.
