Yup, to me dyno numbers are just numbers. Seen too many cars that had great HP numbers and nothing on the street or the track. Then I've seen cars that dynoed low and ran great on the street and track.
I own a car to drive.... not to brag about.
I understand ... for sure
In no way am I wanting to dispute what you say here
BUT
I feel there is more to be added
than
Just me saying ... I agree with You
At one time in my life ... I just about lived at the 1/4 strip
so
I feel I got a good bit of experience in that environment
and
I've seen just about all different kinds of peeps .......
try to go down the 1320
with
all different kinds of ... well ... lets call it effectiveness
Some can drive
Some can't
Some could or have the potential
but
they keep doing all the same things over & over
hence
they make no improvement
My point is ... you got all kinds of different people factors

which
Can or Could ........ skew 1/4 mile performance
So ... that skewing can be for the positive or negative
Of course ... look at enough data
and
an average is gonna surface
You can have a quick 1320 car
but
It can suck for a street car
Just as you pointed out
Impressive Dyno results don't always make a quick 1320 car
I would have to say this about Dyno results
and IMHO
This is where most get side tracked about those results
Peeps too quickly focus on the PEAK values
I would submit to the forum ..........
A set of curves with strong low & mid range
is gonna scoot down the 1320 just dandy
but
If he can't drive ... one could be mislead by his et's
True ... some wanna brag about their dyno results
but
In most of those cases ... they only see the peak values
I see more and get more from VALID sae Dynojet Pulls
and
All the more so

when
I can do an apples to apples comparison

between
A combo with peak numbers that has all the forums buzzing
and
A combo that might give up a little peak
for
a strong and flat low/midrange torque curve
You could have a car that seems wicked fast on the street
and
is a turd down the 1320 cause the guy can't drive
I see both strip and dyno results as having ........
good & bad points to judge performance
I just see peeps skewing dyno less than the 1320 method
