CAn i use mym AOD crossmember with a t5?

Some people claimed the AOD crossmember worked for them, but it would not on my car when I swapped. The exhaust hanger worked but the exhaust hanger *barely* fits in them. You could probably bend it and make it fit a little better, but if you want it easy, I'd just buy both.
You can also modify the AOD crossmember by grinding the spot welds and slide it to make it fit on the T5, then putting a couple spot welds on it again.

it's not necessary to reweld the x member. For our conversion, we didn't even have to grind the welds off.

Fyi, we used the stock aod x member with no problems with our t5 conversion. It can always vary though, we found that the aod driveshaft was too long to use and had to go with a t5 driveshaft, yet most people are able to use their aod driveshaft with this conversion.

Just cut the H-pipe hangers off. I don't run any on my car at all. Makes swapping pipes for inspection so much easier. As long as you are tight at the collectors and have the correct factory (re: STIFF) rubber hangers on the mufflers and tails you'll be fine.

But yes, the exhaust hangers are different for the AOD and T-5. Check EBay. I got one brand new for $15

I bought a new crossmember for my AOD to T5 swap. I got the new one, and compared it to the one that came off and I couldn't tell the difference. I tried to mod the hangars, but they snapped off. No biggie, just have to weld 'em back on.

That leaves me with the dilemma of what to do with the extra crossmember as you can see from my sig! :D

thanks. Mustang5L5...i just purchased a 1-2 syncro slider from national drivtrain. i think it was $36 which was the cheapest i found. just thought id let you know.

Bigstang1, do you have a part number or anything for the 1-2 slider? I tried looking at their website but couldn't find it. I emailed them but i prob won't get a reply til monday. I want to order it ASAP so i can get my T-5 back together and do my AOD-T5 conversion before it gets to be 95 degrees out around here.

btw, where in MA are you?
