Can I use the dizzy to prime oil?

All you need is a deep well, small OD 1/4" socket, a long extension, and a drill big enough to go around the extension. That's how I do mine.

And unless you take the gear off the dizzy, you'll be turning the motor over with it anyway.

Moroso 302 engine prime tool...10$ at local speed shop. Easy way to get it done without having to worry about a socket or other tool falling into the engine. I used mine at initial start up, and primed it again in the spring for first start after 5 months.

Bought a $1 yard sale 12" 1/4 drive extension, bought a $3 1/4 drive 1/4 deep socket, cut the female half of the extension off and welded the socket to the extension. Four dollar SBF primer tool that won't fall into the engine. Can easily be chucked up into a 3/8 drill motor too.
Works for my cheap azz! :D :flag:

I would have gone with the socket and extension, but I just couldn't convince myself to strap together multiple pieces and put them down the hole. My Experiences with these cars has taught me that anything that may go wrong..probably will. My choice is to work on this side of caution.

it would be nice if you could get a 1/2 drill as the 3/8 drills are kinda wimpy. once you get pressure built up, it will get hard for a 3/8 drill to turn it. it will turn it, but slowly. the couple of times i used a 3/8 drill it would be smoking by the time oil got started to come out of the rockers.
