Can my 96 beat a 05??

He could do it if he buit it right and tuned it.

I have a PI intake 4:10 gears Aluminum flywheel, 75MM TB and Plenum CAI, UDP's, SCT X-3 tune and I can pull on a stock 05 so yes it can be done.

Oh yeah almost forgot I have off road h-pipe with 40 series Flomasters (edit)

hey whats up.. i have a 96GT with flowmasters and BBK H-pipe, short shifter and 75mm TB. Im planing to put a 3.73, will this be enough to beat a 05 GT with a 3.73? and what times do you guys think i'll run at the track with a 3.73 and PI cams and intake

Even if he falls asleep at the wheel, or blows the tires off the rims for the first two gears he's going to walk you with ease by the top of 3rd gear.

The way it sits, you're looking at nearly a full second difference between the two cars now. More if the guy in the S197 has a few mods like you do.

...sorry.

Again - there's a difference between beating the driver and beating the car. A bolt on PI intake areo will lose 10/10 times with the same driver in each car against a S-197. I sported that set-up for a good 3 years - so i'm not just being bias either.

not going to happen. Sorry, but your heavy vert with around 220rwhp is not going to pull on a 05 car.

Chris put it very well. Out driving somebody is one thing, having a faster car is another.

Don't tell me it isn't going to happen when I already do it you chump. And how do you know what my HP is do I have it posted somewhere **** my bone stock dyno was close to those nhumbers and that was with fouled plugs and all.

Curious what are the power differences,Couple days ago I had the chance to run against a 97-98 cobra and a 05+ GT.Honestly I got a better run out of the cobra,I pulled a bit on the GT then his front got about mid door on me and thats the way it stayed. The Cobra was back and forth nose but I got him.I dunno if those rides were stock or not.Wondering if its the cars or the drivers.

You don't need to post it - most of us know exactly what a bolt on NPI stang puts down from personal experience (on the rollers and at the track). Mark knows more than most the peak potential of a NPI stang at the track, and we also know what a S-197 can do at the track. So it doesn't really matter if your stock numbers said 300rwhp, we personally know how fast a bolt on NPI GT is - and how fast it is not.

amen. Love the sn95's I have had over the years, but at some point, I realized I have to move on.

Hey Winters, which is an all around "better" Vette, Z06 or the regular C6?

I never was a huge Vette fan but you can't deny the incredible performance, I was looking at prices of Z06's and :jaw: You can get those things for cheeap, you CANNOT beat that bang for the buck! Supercar perfomance for Honda Accord price. C5's are even more insane price-wise.

These are great times for cars, I'm thoroughly convinced in this last decade cars started getting produced to the most timeless and outstanding capabilities of all time, therefore I think 10 year old cars of today are and will be holding their relevance alot longer than the 10 year old cars of yesterday. I'll tell you one thing, in 5 or so years when 2005 models will be pushing 8+ years old, those will be really good times. :nice:

chump, ehh? :rlaugh:

Your car isn't making much, if any above 200-210rwhp if your sig is accurate. And thats a fact! npi cars put down 180-200rwhp bone stock. If you do have a saleen and have pulleys, then that and the h pipe might get you 10-15rwhp, but if you have a faleen, and only have an h pipe for power mods, I don't see where your getting the idea your car is making that much more than 200rwhp.

Also, don't get your panties in such a bunch, no need for name calling. Your heavy vert would be lucky to trap 100mph, with 05's doing much more than that stock. So, no, your not going to pull on an 05 car.

BADDAZBLUE, what's going on man? Haven't seen ya around in a while. As for the c6 vs. c5 z06, the performance is close. The z06 is slightly faster overall, but the interior of the c6 is a nice step up. You can pick up used 05-06 c6's for 28-35k, and the c5 z06's go anywhere from 23-40k. It is a buyers maket right now. BTW, how do you like the Benz?

Watsup bud! Indeed it's been a while, I decided to roam back to the ole' Stang community :SNSign: since I've been getting back into Cars recently (since I bought the Benz) due to finally being able to enjoy some of the fruits of my labors per-se. I have kind of have an itch to get a Mustang again, hehe. Nice to see you here man, you were always one of the most helpful, knowledgable and *ahem*, realistic people here. :D

I'm really loving the Benz man, I always wanted one, and I couldn't be happier. I waas gonna go for an E55 with higher Mileage and a couple years older, but just knew owning an M-B without a Warranty...Especially an AMG is a no-no. So I got the AMG Package, got some Gas Mileage, got one with Warranty, and get to avoid losing my License and possibly worse, from the urge of a 460+ Horses (how some of you guys do it I don't know, haha). The 350 (3.5) Motor is pretty nice actually, 270 horses and gets going nicely in the upper RPM's, sounds nice for a 6'er too, so I'm content with it.

Yeah C5 ZO6's are sweeet! You can't beat those Prices, and it is indeed hugely a buyers market right now. Ah the temptation. I want a second car but trying to keep it within a real cheap budget, hehe.

Can I post a Pic?? :OT: I'm an old Stang warrior damnit!! :p

Sweet ride! Love the pewter. I don't blame you for wanting a warranty. What MPG are you getting on the highway?

As you, I was out of mod motors for a while. Got an itch last year, and I picked up a high mile 2v last year and had some fun with it. I did a little build thread through the progress of it.

I bought another set of PI heads and was going to do another PI headswap, then I decided to sale it. I'm now set on a vette, preferably a c5z06 or c6. However, I'm still open to a used FRC corvette if a low mile one comes along.

I can barely hang with one with all my mods and the 06 I ran had exhaust and a tune. Lost by 2 cars at the 1/4...13.6 compared to my 13.8

That sounds like my experiance with my buddies 05GT. He does drive better than me. He has raced cars for a living. All his GT has is a cold air intake and a X-Cal2 tune. His car runs 13.6 all day. I'm barely scatching 14.2 at the track. I need more practice or some "adavntage"(blower). Pearl02.

That is rad dude, you buying a 2V to have some fun with has got to be a good time, ahh how I wish I was Mechanically inclined with Cars, would be so much fun.

Thanks for the compliments on the Car too! Yeah, the color really compliments the Car great. I can get around 28-29 pretty easily in a good FWY driving situation, and I've gotten it over 30 too in good driving conditions, so I'm happy with it. It's got a 7 Speed Tranny so I think I can push it over 30 (I rarely drive on the Freeway), City's pretty good too, could do 19 regularly in good traffic conditions.

Good luck with that Vette man, the market is in your favor for sure. I'd say you couldn't go wrong with either the C6 or C5 ZO6.

Thanks for the Link to that Thread too, looked fun. :nice: Yeah, I have to say, I don't care what anyone says, I trust a Mustang with 150K over almost ANYTHING, they are reliable, could withstand tons of abuse, cheap parts, available parts, fun factor, etc.

I've been looking at the 197 Body's too, I don't really like them all that much style-wise, but with the face-lift coming soon, I could see prices starting to drop some more.... SN99's are available for soo cheap right now here, you can get high mileage examples for great prices. 96-98 2V's have some crazy deals going, even some nice clean ones. Gotta love the Mustang as it truly does it's job honoring the title of "Pony Car".
