Can The 92 GT Cheesegrate Taillights be Replaced?

Like many Fox Body GT owners, I do not like the cheese-grate tail lights on my 92 GT.

Of the many online merchants, I have never really come across a taillight specific for the GT. I tend to find lenses and lamps advertised for the LX model, but not the GT.

I am interested in placing a LX type tail light on my GT, however, I am not sure they are transferrable. I am not interested in the euro-style tail lights.

Can a LX style tail light be placed on a 92 GT, and if so, can someone share a few links to a websites that have them (or advertise them specifically for a GT).

An LX taillight assembly from 87-93 will bolt right in place of the cheesegraters. I would check stangnet classifieds or corral.net and you'll probably find a set, if you wanna go new I know 50resto.com has em. good luck

Agreed. You can get either just the lenses or the whole assemblies. The assembly will bolt in, while the lenses will need to be glued/clipped on (after old ones are pryed off).

Do Not Buy From Ksr...

I replaced the GT tails to LX... FORD OEM lenses are the only option.

I bought Repro KSR lenses through 50resto.com, they sent me three pairs and every pair had these bumps in the lense.

KSR Lenses=Crap, see...

I bought FORD OEM lenses after that ordeal.

KSR quality sucks...

Pull the GT lenses off from the housing, sand and paint the housing with chrome paint. Put the goo strip down, and stick the LX tails on there. Tie it with a rope, and make sure that they don't have gaps. Real easy.

Ford OEM LX tails look nice I think...
