My '04 has this buildup of residue or something on the tires but you can't see it. I used to use a gel from meguires but switched to a spray that I like better but my tires won't hold it, when I spray it on they get clumpy looking and just nasty. The car has 2300 miles on it. Not sure what I can do. I tried to wipe off the tires with a towel but it didn't seem to do anything. Any ideas. The only thing I can think of is to scrub the hell out of them but will that do the job. ??

When you wipe it what color is the residue? Sounds to me like you may be applying too much tire dressing. The tire can only absorb/hold so much. With most products you apply it, wait a while and then wipe the excess off. Next time you wash the car use a tire brush and some regular car wash soap and scrub the tires (after doing the rest of the car first of course).

thats what I was thinking.....I have never had this problem with any other vehicle though, makes me wander why I'm having this issue with a brand new one. Damn goodyears....haha. nothing worse than a pretty waxed up car with dull looking treads....thanks man

Bleach White and harsh chemicals like it are the worst thing you can do to your tires. Sure they will get them very clean but, they also strip the chemicals out of the tires that were put there by the manufacturer to protect the tire from oxidizing. If you regularly clean your tires after every wash there should be no need to use anything stronger than regular old car wash soap on your tires. Better to use a mild cleaner and a lot of scrubbing than harsh cleaner that lets you be lazy
